I just read a devotional from one of my favorite blogs and wanted to share it with you, to get the word out. I don't know about you but there are plenty of times that I can remember when I wish I could reach out and grab my words.
How deeply our words can cut those who we love and even those who we really don't know. One of my favorite books in the Bible is the book of James. James 3 talks about the tongue, even though it is small, can boast great things. It also says in verses 6-9
....And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell. For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind, 8 but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God.
Wow, I don't know about you, but that's a mouthful...literally. Our tongue can be the most dangerous member of our body. That's why I really liked this article.... I'll just let you read it and see if you see yourself anywhere in it, because I sure did!
